Upper Moreland Middle School 8th Grade class held their all-night volleyball marathon for charity event last month.  This year, the 8th grade selected, by popular vote, the S.P.C.A., Abington Branch as the charity they most wanted to support.  Pictured above, 8th grade student Kalin Konrad presented Steven Conway, Humane Educator at the branch, a donation in the amount of  $3, 200 to be used to support the work of the S.P.C.A.

 

 

MS Acceptance Day

 

Congratulations to retired UMMS teacher Anne Billas and 8th grade student Kalin Konard who were awarded the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Humanitarian Award at the Middle School's Acceptance Day celebration.  The annual award acknowledges adults and students who display acceptance of others, and who have worked to improve the lives of others.  Presenting the awards to Ms. Billas & Kalin at the celebration were committee members and UMMS teachers (l-r) Barb Keck, Rob Ricker, and Jill Klock.

UMMS 2009 Wrestling Team

Congratulations to the 2009 Upper Moreland Middle School Golden Bears Wrestling Team who defeated the Colonials of Plymouth Whitemarsh 51-43 on 2/18/09, in the BEAR Den. The UMMS BEARS are the2009 Suburban One American League Champions. Congratulations to David Antoni, Chris Fleming, Tommy Lloyd, Dylan Johnson, C.J. Congratulations to Charlie Hooker, a 7th Grade student at the Middle School, won 1st place in the Philadelphia Phillies Home Run Derby competition for 10-12 year olds in September! Charlie had an exciting win, having the opportunity to meet and have his picture taken with Pat Burrell. Previously, Charlie won the local and regional competition in PA and NJ which qualified him to advance to the Phillies Home Run Derby.

 

Lions Poster Contest
Upper Moreland Middle School students shared their visions of world peace through a contest sponsored by the Lions Club.

Contestants were asked to create a poster that visually communicated the contest theme "Peace Begins With Me." The winning poster which will go on to the regional competition was created by Grace O'Leary. Upper Moreland Middle School Student Council Officers for 2008-2009 school year have been selected. To be considered for Student Council, the students are required to write an essay explaining why they would be a good leader. This year, Student Council has a homeroom where students report daily, allowing them the opportunity to work in the mornings and plan upcoming events such as dances, creating websites, school-wide environmental projects, and community service.
