NEW FOR 2009-2010
Open House,
Teacher Assignments,
and Bus Schedules

The Primary School will be hosting
Open Houses at 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on the following dates:

  • Monday, August 17, 2009 for all students with last names starting with
    A thru H
  • Tuesday, August 18, 2009 for all students with last names starting with
    I thru P
  • Wednesday, August 19, 2009 for all students with last names starting
    Q thru Z

Students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian

During the Open House you will be picking up a packet with your child’s teacher’s name and room number/section. Packet/teacher assignment will only be released to the parent or guardian of the student.  Also at this time, you will have the opportunity to take a tour of the school and find your child’s classroom.  Please note that teachers may not be present; however a picture of your child’s teacher and a bio of your child’s teacher will be posted on the classroom door.  You will be able to meet your child’s teacher on our “Back to School/Meet the Teacher Nights” which will be scheduled for September.

If you are unable to attend the Open House on the above dates, your child’s packet will be mailed to your home on August 21st. Please do not call the school for teacher assignment information. The school secretaries will not be giving this information out over the phone.

We ask that parents and guardians return the forms included in the teacher assignment packet to the school office.  The school office will be open to receive the forms August 24th through September 4th from 9:00 to 3:00 PMWe cannot stress the importance that these forms be completed and returned prior to the first day of school.  We appreciate your help in complying with this request.  Having the forms in place for the first day of school helps all of our staff and students with a smooth arrival and dismissal.  Again, please return the forms to the school office prior to the first day of school.

On the Open House dates, our Transportation Department will have buses in our parking lot to familiarize your child with safety procedures for riding the bus.

Our U. M. Food Services team will be available to answer questions about school meals. All children are invited to stop in to learn about breakfast and lunch at school.

PLEASE NOTE:  THE OPEN HOUSE ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED ON THE 2008-2009 DISTRICT CALENDAR (AUGUST 27th) HAS BEEN CANCELLED AND REPLACED WITH THE DATES AND TIMES LISTED ON THIS PUBLICATION.

IMPORTANT MESSAGES
nurses cap
from the Nurse’s Corner
Mrs. Kathy Zanine, RN, BSN

Parents, if your child has any medication in the nurse's office, please remember to come and pick it up before the last day of school June 17th. The children are not permitted to carry any medication around school or to and from school. Any medication that is left beyond the last day of school will get discarded.

Also, just a reminder that all physical, dental and immunizations need to be current and a copy sent in to the nurse for a student's file. The school physician will be coming in the first week of June to perform a brief physical for any kindergarten or first grade student who does not have one on record.

Summer is a time for children to relax and enjoy a wide variety of recreational activities.  It is also a time when children need on-going reminders about safety rules.  Here are some important safety rules you should review periodically with your children:

  • Always look both ways before crossing the street.  Use crosswalks and never cross between parked cars.  Cross at corners.
  • Never swim alone.
  • Wear a bicycle safety helmet and know and follow the bicycle safety rules.
  • Always tell parents and babysitters where you will be playing.
  • Never talk to strangers or get in a car with a stranger.
  •  Never play on or near railroad tracks.
