May 2, 2006

Dear Parents,
Excitement is brewing as our Canada trip nears! I am writing this letter to review with you several important dates, events and details in preparation for the departure for Montreal and Quebec City. Attached you will also find important information which must be returned to me no later than Thursday, May 25th.

  1. First and foremost…Students accompanying us on the trip will need a passport or the original copy of your child’s birth certificate (a Xerox copy WILL NOT do). Since 9/11, there is an additional requirement and that is your child’s school photo ID. Because this maybe an impossible task for some of the children, I will ask central administration to print out individual school photo IDs and attach them to your child’s birth certificate. Please remember, I must have the original birth certificate or your child’s passport by Thursday, May 25th. We cannot take students to Canada without this document.
  2. An evening mandatory meeting for you and your child has been scheduled for Thursday, May 25th from 7:30 to 8:30 PM. Attendance is a must for you and your child. Please make every effort to be there. The evening will begin with an outline of the highlights of our trip, along with some practical information you may need to better prepare. Parents will get a sneak preview of the locations their children will be visiting in Quebec and Montreal, along with a finalized itinerary, a room list, a phone chain, and phone numbers where we can be reached at all times. Clear and important behavioral guidelines will be discussed as well as consequences for any inappropriate behavior. In addition, “checks” earned by your child will have been translated into cash, and distributed to families who have helped us throughout the year.
  3. If your child follows a special diet, please let Mr. Grande know in writing as soon as possible so that we may make appropriate plans.
  4. If any medical information has changed since the time of your registration in November of 2005, please advise Mr. Grande in writing as soon as possible.
  5. Please be aware that this meeting is mandatory. If you are unable to attend, please contact me immediately as I must meet with you and your child or he/she will be unable to join us on the 2006 trip to Canada.

I thank you in advance for your continued support and assistance as we prepare for our long-awaited trip. If you have any questions or need clarification concerning any of the items above please call me at 674-4185, ext. 3710.

The chaperones and I look forward to seeing you on Thursday, May 25th at
7:30 PM.

Sincerely,

Mr. John Grande
